Rupali Basu Summoned Over Apollo’s ‘Negligent’ Treatment


Kolkata: Soon after the Apollo CEO resigned from her post, Rupali Basu was summoned on Monday over the ongoing Apollo issue in the state.

The Phoolbagan Police summoned Rupali Basu, (now) the ex-CEO of Apollo Gleanagles Hospitals. The police on Saturday had summoned 16 hospital officials, including doctors. The police interrogated them and also recorded their statement. The police have also reportedly mentioned Rupali Basu’s name in the list.

The issue of Sanjay Roy’s death came to the limelight soon after CM Mamata Banerjee held her meeting with hospital officials at the Town Hall. She criticized them for over-billing and several other such allegations and accusations. Apollo Hospitals was accused of showing negligence to Sanjay’s treatment and also for over-billing his family.

Amid such ruckus and ongoing probe and investigation into the matter by both the Phoolbagan police and the committee, Rupali Basu resigned from her Apollo post. Rana Dasgupta took over her post temporarily.

Based on the orders the orders of the chief minister, a six member committee was formed to probe into the allegations against Apollo Hospitals. The report submitted by the committee to the health department showed several loopholes in Sanjay’s treatment and has held Apollo Hospitals ‘guilty.’ The entire report is likely informed from Nabanna on Monday.
