Rupa Visits Slain Student’s House, Accused Still At Large


Diamond Harbour: BJP leader Rupa Ganguly visited the lynched ITI student’s house on Thursday and demanded CBI probe into the incident. She also said that her party will stand by the victim’s family at all cost.

Rupa Ganguly visited Koushik Purkait’s house and spoke to her mother. She tried to console the grieved family. The main accused, TMC leader and Gram Panchayat member, Tapas Mullick, is still untraceable. It has been accused that since he is from the ruling party, hence the party is trying to hide him. Thus he has not been arrested yet.

Koushik Purkait, ITI student was beaten to death allegedly by a mob who mistook him as a cattle smuggler at Harindanga in South 24 Parganas district on Monday night, triggering outrage in the area.

The angry mob of Bahadurpur Of Diamond Harbour vandalized several houses in protest of the murder on Wednesday. They were furious because the main culprit, Tapas Mullick was absconding. The mob went on a rampage and damaged houses, some bikes and even burnt down his house and a stack of hay.
