Kolkata: A teenage girl, who ran away from her house after scoring poorly in her examinations, was rescued by the Kolkata Police along with the help of sex workers in ‘Sonagachhi’ and board dedicated for rescuing minors from sex trading menace in the city.
The girl ran away from her home in Dankuni on Tuesday after she failed to score good marks in Madhyamik selection tests. She travelled by bus to Shyambazar and then came to Sovabazar where she met a songachhi worker who let her reside at her house for a night.
After Burtolla Police and Board devoted to rescuing minors came to know about the girl, they rushed to her rescue. However, she tried to mislead them by calling on false phone numbers and telling them her farce address.
The sex workers of Kolkata’s red light area actively assisted the police in the operation and aided the rescue of the girl. Doctors and psychologists who examined the girl’s condition have expressed concern. She is said to be suffering from “Borderline Personality Disorder”.
