Kolkata: The meeting staged by the General Managers of the Eastern Railway has bore the fruit of stationing RPF jawans in the trains of the Eastern circuit of the state. According to the source, it has been made mandatory to keep RPF in all stations by the officers. It is learnt that after reviewing the Titagarh blast reports, the Managers have stuck to this kind of a decision. Keeping in ind the rising number of eve teasing incidents and the cases of loots that has been going on in local trains in the recent past, the officers have decided in this light, added the sources.
The eastern railway mainly operates in the 4 divisions of Howrah, Maldah, Asansol and Sealdah. To ensure passenger safety, the Eastern Railway has decided on keeping RPF at the local trains. They have even added that in the absence of RPF jawans, an officer of the SI rank needs to be placed. The constables who are now invested with the duties fail to take the decision at the proper time. They are even not prompt with their actions. To cut down on such issues, the managers have decided accordingly. The meeting even gave out information regarding roping in more RPF jawans to fill in the vacant spaces and increase the number of dedicated officers in order to ensure passenger safety.
