Kolkata: Amid tight security, Bengal Assembly Polls for Phase 5 began at 7am on Saturday.
There was a sudden accumulation of outsiders in the Bhawanipore constituency. The state police successfully dispersed them. BJP candidate from Bhawanipore raised allegations that the outsiders are trying to manipulate the voters. They are trying to intimidate them and influence their votes.
CPM Candidate from Bhawanipore Deepa Dasmunsi has already lodged a complaint with the Election Commission for this matter.
Apart from Bhawanipore, same situation was witnessed in Jadavpur and Baghajatin constituencies too.
Apart from a few minor incidents since the morning, no major incidents have been reported so far. This is the result of the strict measures taken by the Election Commission, especially for Saturday’ Phase 5 polls as heavyweight candidates will be contesting today. CM Mamata Banerjee and TMC leaders who were purportedly seen in the Narada footages will also contest from their respective assemblies today.
