Kolkata: Rose Valley MD Shibomay Dutta has been remanded to five days of CBI custody by the Bidhannagar court on Saturday. Dutta is facing charges for illicit financial transaction amounting to Rs. 13, 500 crore in connection to the Rose Valley scam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested two people including the managing director (MD) of Rose Valley, Shibomay Dutta in connection to the Rose Valley Scam.
The sleuths arrested Dutta on charges of hiding crucial facts and not cooperating in the investigation. Earlier on the day CBI had interrogated Dutta and asked for documents related to Rose Valley. The agency alleged that Dutta refused to provide the document and refused to cooperate.
The ED has arrested Rose Valley chief Gautam Kundu and Amit Banerjee after reports of funds being illegally raised from the market surfaced. Kundu is currently behind the bar and the case is being investigated.
The agency has also accused the state police of not registering FIRs in many complaints pertaining to the Rose Valley scam. The agency has alleged that at least 70 complaints have been scrapped by the state police.
