Jalpaiguri: BJP leader and RS MP Roopa Ganguly is busy since Sunday morning for her campaigns ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. During her campaign, she lashed out at and said that the Mamata-led government is opening alcohol shops on one hand and trying to pay loans to Centre by fooling people, on the other hand.
Jalpaiguri will go into polls on April 18. Roopa Ganguly campaigned for Dr. Jayanta Roy in this constituency. She campaigned in an open jeep.
During this campaign, Ganguly said, “The state government has given permission to open alcohol shops to fill the state fund. This is how Mamata Banerjee is trying to complete the polls. But the people will not accept this. They want a change. Hence, the BJP candidate will win this time.”
The BJP leader also imitated the actions and works of the TMC candidates. However, all the allegations were rejected by Jalpaiguri’s TMC candidate Bijoy Chandra Burman. During his own campaign, he said, “Roopa Ganguly was ill which she said all these during the campaign. This is not the culture of Bengal. The way she is, is just the way her explanation is.”
