Karachi: At least 13 people, including seven children, were killed on Tuesday as a massive rock slide hit homes in a slum in Karachi. The incident occurred early this morning when a mass of rock and mud crashed down in Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, killing 13 people who were asleep.
“Thirteen people, including seven children and three women, were buried alive,” Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui said. The rescue teams arrived after the incident and pulled out the bodies from the debris.
The victims belonged to Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan Districts of Punjab and authorities were making arrangement to transport bodies to their native areas for burial.
