Kolkata: Partha De, who allegedly spent months with the skeleton of his sister at their Kolkata residence, has died at Merlin apartment under the Watganj police station on Tuesday.
Partha’s body has been found and mystery prevails. The police say that Partha decided self-immolate but before committing suicide he suffered a heart attack and died. A bottle of petrol has been recovered from his room as per the police. Several burnt things were also recovered.
According to a senior officer of the Kolkata Police, Dey (45) probably committed suicide and his body was found inside the bathroom of a flat on Watgunge Street where he was living for the past few months.
A bottle of petrol and a match box was recovered beside Dey’s body.
“When we reached the flat after receiving a complaint from neighbours this noon we found Dey’s half burnt body lying inside the bathroom. He was dead. Probably he used the petrol to commit suicide… But it’s still not confirmed. We are waiting for the post mortem report,” the officer said.
Partha De’s body was found in the bathroom of his flat (Merlin House, flat 11-E). After voluntarily coming out of the Mother house, he used to stay alone in a rented flat. Several reports say that his burnt body was found whereas the police say that he died because of a heart attack an not because of self-illolation.
The police had recovered the skeleton of Debjani De, Partha’s sister while investigating the death of her father at 3, Robinson Street in Kolkata. Partha De was the only living member of the family.
On June 10, Partha and Debjani’s father Aurobindo De had committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his Robinson Street residence. The next day, the police learnt about Partha living with the skeletons of his sister and their two dogs for over six months when they wanted to hand over his father’s body.
