Raigunj: An incident of robbery took place at Domhana Village panchayet in North Dinajpur’s Karandighi Thana area on Friday night, police said. The incident has sparked panic in the area. According to locals, robbers armed with sticks, guns and sharp weapons raided the village panchayat office last night and looted Rs 37,000 and phones.
The office staffs Sanjay Ghosh and Umar Faruk complained that seven to eight robbers at first disconnected the electricity of the office and then said to open the door. They broke the door with weapons and entered the office.
The Staffs said that they were brutally thrashed by the robbers when they attempted to stop them. Robbers fired two three rounds on the air.
Civic volunteers along with the locals rushed to the spot and sent the employees to the village hospital. Village panchayet deputy president lalan Singh said that Robbers looted randomly in various departmental offices.
Karnadighi police reached the spot and started investigation to nab the culprits.
