Rio Hopes Over As Inderjeet Fails Second Dope Test

New Delhi: In a fresh blow to India’s medal-winning chances at the Rio Olympics, shot-putter Inderjeet Singh’s ‘B’ sample tested positive on Tuesday.

Earlier, the athlete’s A-sample had returned positive in a test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

Inderjeet’s A sample taken out of competition on June 22 had returned positive for a steroid post which he was told by NADA to have his B sample tested within seven days, failing which his dope failure will be confirmed.

With his ‘B’ sample being tested positive, Inderjeet will have to miss Rio Olympics beginning August 5, besides chances of facing a ban for four years under the WADA Code.
