Resist Manjul-type incident, says CM

Staff Reporter, Kolkata: The joining of Manjul Krishna Thakur in the BJP had already set the atmosphere of discomfort among the Trinamool interiors. The result of which was evident in the party meeting today. Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee sat for a meeting with several leaders of the party to chalk out their strategy concerning the upcoming bypolls. Jyotipriyo Mullick, the food minister of the state who is also in charge of the north 24 Parganas, was at the firing line of the Chief Minister. According to the sources, Mamata demanded an answer from the food minister regarding the joining of Manjul Krishna Thakur in BJP. She also said that such kind of incident is totally un-called for and the leaders in charge of certain areas must bank on the developmental side to reach out to people.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee has made it clear that the party will provide all kinds of support to Mukul Roy. She has further added that the party is well prepared to go on protest if Mukul is arrested.

The meeting on Friday at her Kalighat residence was chiefly to discuss certain strategies for the bypolls. The heavy-weight figures of the State Government had earlier filed a petition at the Calcutta High Court pleading for the bypoll election at the end of April.

However, the move was criticized by certain Left Front leaders. They stated this petition is completely ‘unconstitutional’ in nature.
