Kolkata: Renowned writer cum journalist and a revered figure in the Indian literature circle Amitabha Chowdhury passed away at the ripe age of 87 at his Kolkata residence on Friday.
Amitabha Chowdhury was best known for his touching depiction of the life long struggle of refugees migrated from Bangladesh to India. He was a student of Dutta High School and later a graduate from Saint Xavier’s College in English,Maths and Economics. He later bagged a MA in English from Calcutta University.
Chowdhury a renowned journalist worked in many prominent Bengali newspaper including Anandabazar Patrika and Yugantar.
He was also conferred the prestigious Padmashree award in 1983.
