Reformation Work Starts In Kalyani Expressway

Barrackpore: The reformation work of Kalyani Expressway started after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee order hit the administration. The 40 KM stretch from Nimta of Belghoria to Kalyani needs a four lane road which has been proposed to the administration.

The proposed plan could not be executed due to several problems. During this time, the condition of the road became more dangerous. The right side of Hooghly river have Sodepur, Barrackpore, Naihati. The road has an extensive use to avoid congestion. This road is connected with Sodepur, Barrackpore, Barasat, Madhyamgram, Kankinara, Shyamnagar, Khardaha and Kanchrapara connector.

The inside roads of North 24 Pargana, Nadia and Hooghly are connected with this road. 1, 2 and NH-34 has been connected in several places. NH-6 near Bansberia is connected with Kalyani Expressway through Iswar Gupta Setu which is under a repairing process.

Chief Minister has ordered immediate repairing of the road. PWD is working on an emergency note. Seven Crore have been allotted for the reformation work. the work started on this week. It was scheduled to start before Durga Puja which was postponed due to official reasons.

PWD enginne Pinaki Bhattacharyya said that, ” The reformation work started before puja but it was halted due to heavy congestion in puja days. A layer of Bituminus has been given. the work will be finished soon.”
