Ranchi: Following the Prime Minister’s surgical strike on black money, the general sentiment swiftly moved from shock to confusion to panic. People, in their desperation to deposit old currency notes in exchange for new ones, have braved serpentine queues for days since Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes.
As a result, banks and ATMs soon ran dry of new cash, prompting the Reserve Bank of India to now take the help of the Indian Air Force.
To that end, the nation’s custodian bank is using IAF helicopters to send new currency notes to banks and ATMs in Jharkhand’s Bokaro city.
Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Bokaro, said that the cash received from RBI has already been sent to all banks and ATMs.
