New Delhi: Ration dealers from across the nation have called for a nationwide strike on 18 July. They will be assembling in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan and then march to the Parliament to place their 7-point demand list.
The retailers have been in the agitation mode ever since the government launched the new pattern of ration supply in November last.
They have been demanding that since the new pattern largely shrunk their revenues and increased expenses the government pay them a fixed monthly remuneration. They also wanted the government to deliver the foodstuff at the shops by paying for the transportation.
The All-Kerala Retail Ration Dealers Association has called for a shut-down strike on May 2 as the government has ignored their earlier pleas. They are in talks with the Chief Minister to find a solution.
