Patna: Former Rajya Sabha member Ram Nath Kovind was on Sunday sworn in as the Governor of Bihar. He is also known to be a dalit leader. He was administered oath of office by Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court Iqbal ahmad Ansari in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Kovind took oath as the 36th Governor of Bihar at a function at Raj Bhawan.
Kovind who was a two term RS member and chief of BJP SC and ST wing, hails from Uttar Pradesh. Union Minister of State Vijay Sapla and a host of BJP leaders including Sushil Kumar Modi, Nand Kishore Yadav, Manoj Tiwari and state President Mangal Pandey were also present.
President Pranab Mukherjee appointed Kovind as the new Governor of Bihar. Kovind took over from West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi who was holding additional charge of Bihar.
