Guwahati: Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed deep concern over the recent developments along the India-Myanmar border saying that he has constituted a committee to find out a way to effectively manage the issue.
The Union Home Minister was addressing a meeting of the North-East Chief Ministers in Guwahati, he said that the committee is being headed by RN Ravi, who is a security expert. The committee has already reviewed the situation and is expected to submit its reports soon.
He said, “We should not ignore the border population. There are 240 villages with over two lakh population within 10 km of the India-Myanmar border. This large population is without any security cover. They are at the mercy of insurgents. Similar situation prevails along the India-Bhutan border.”
