Kolkata: A large number of passengers fell sick after consuming rotten food provided in the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on Monday. Protests ensued after many complained of nausea and vomiting.
Aggrieved passengers of coach B8 and B9 allege that they had fallen ill after consuming the pantry food. The passengers also claimed that they complained about the food quality several times, but to little effect. No concerned authorities reached out to them, neither did railways officials agreed to hear their plights.
The passengers took to protest against the railway authority at the Asansol station. Irked passengers continued with their protests till Sealdah Station, vandalizing the station master’s office.
Babul Supriyo, the MP from the Asansol constituency, said that people should not merge this kind of incident with politics. He totally supports their ongoing protest over the stale food.
This is not the first instance of such poor quality food being served on trains. Earlier this year, same complaints arose as passengers of the Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express alleged that the food quality of such premier train has deteriorated. They expressed concern about the stale food being supplied throughout.
