Rajarhat to stroll in ‘Japanese Forest’ in New Town


Kolkata: The Eco Park in Rajarhat, New Town is seriously on the verge of becoming the most happening outing of the City. According to the latest development, a Japanese Forest is likely to be designed and set up with by the HIDCO. The new flora will be a seat of special trees and herbs, soothing greenery, pagoda, monk emblems and even a Japanese-style footbridge and a dense bamboo plantation.

Officials said there is a green open space with palm trees near ‘Rabi Aranya’ and the angling zone. The plan is to develop the area without disturbing the original trees.”The aromatic plants and dense bamboo avenue will give a sense of peace. There will also be a wishing tree where people will be able to pray and ask for a wish,” said Hidco chairman cum managing director Debashis Sen.

The forest promises to one of the sites which would represent Japanese Culture. There would also be a food joint to cater to the taste buds of the Kolkatans. The flora and the other natural tranquilities will be the main USP of the spot. Hidco authorities have already developed a rain forest and various gardens inside Eco Park and they are working along with West Bengal Waste Land Development Corporation to set up a bird sanctuary on a three-acre plot inside the park.
