Rajarhat to get a ‘Ghum Station’ soon

Kolkata: You might not have to board the train and reach NJP followed by a trekker to Darjeeling in order to visit the Ghum Station. With the initiatives of the HIDCO authorities, a miniature replica of the much talked about station will be planned at Eco Park and would be up for public very soon.”It will be a one-coach stationary replica of the toy train adjacent to the tea lounge. The surrounding area will be developed as the station’s replica,” said Hidco chairman and managing director Debashis Sen. The station will be built in line with the original station at Ghum, HIDCO had even sent their engineers to have a look at the spot.

The authorities are also planning a mist garden in the park to give it a feel of the Hills. There will be a series of sprouts from the light poles that will have sprayers instead of the street lights. The sprouts will contain compressed air and fine water spray from the nozzles will produce an artificial fog.Another plan is for a moving toy train that will encircle the waterbody at Eco Park. RITES have been engaged to prepare a project report for this.

With the Japanese forest and the rural village and the Dahl Lake like engagements, this new Ghum will surely add to the tourists of the generation.
