Kolkata: Alipore Meteorological Department on Tuesday said that rain may lash in the Kolkata on Wednesday. The temperature is also decreasing due to cold winds and rain.
Wednesday’s maximum temperature is 35.7 degrees Celsius, which is one degree more than usual. The lowest temperature decreased a lot. The minimum temperature is 25.9 degrees Celsius, which is one degree less than normal. On Monday night, Kolkata received 0.3 mm rainfall.
Tuesday’s maximum temperature was 36.2 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above normal. There was no special change in the temperature. The lowest temperature decreased a lot. The minimum temperature is 23.6 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal. On Monday night, Kolkata received 10.3 mm rain. The maximum amount of moisture is 94 percent, the minimum is 54 percent.
As per the weather experts, similar pattern of isolated rains would be a sight today as well. While, April 16 onward, these isolated activities would eventually turn into moderate activities. Adding to this, all the three states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal would witness activities simultaneously on April 18 and 19. During this time, one can expect high velocity winds, lightning strikes with thunder squalls.
These activities are being witnessed in wake of a Cyclonic Circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Along with this, an Anti-Cyclone in the Bay of Bengal is feeding moisture to these states. There will be rain and thundershower activities over Northwest Plains on April 16 and 17. This weather system on traveling East would also act as a catalyst, thus resulting in good rain and thundershowers on April 18 and 19.
Kolkata, Shantiniketan, Malda, Diamond Harbour, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro, Patna and Gaya would be on a receiving end of these rains during this time.
