Kolkata: The parts of West Bengal have been experiencing dry weather since last many days. However, Sub Himalayan West Bengal region has been lucky to witness some rains at Thursday night.
Now in the coming days, we expect dry weather to continue across both the states. However, February 23 onward, we can see weather taking a u-turn with development of significant weather systems. With this, rains and thundershowers would lash both the states, accompanied with lightning strikes.
Rainfall has started with Kolkata, Hooghly, Eastern Burdwan, West Burdwan, Nadia, Murshidabad, Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas.
There was a possibility of rain in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Koch Bihar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong, Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur in many parts of North Bengal. The temperature is decreasing in mercury.
A cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh has been gaining strength and is set to reach Jharkhand by Monday morning. It has been gathering moisture generated by a high-pressure zone over Bay of Bengal. The two systems have created conditions ideal for the formation of cumulus clouds that can trigger heavy showers.
