Bengaluru: The IPL 2017 Eliminator between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad has run into rough weather and could be affected by rain.

With the match set to begin in a few hours from now, the Bangalore skies opened up and it has been drizzling constantly. However, after having installed the latest technology to dry the surface, hosts Karnataka State Cricket Association, are optimistic of handling the wet conditions. “Even if it rains heavily, we have the drainage system to ready the ground quickly,” a KSCA official said.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium has had a comprehensive makeover of its outfield and drainage at the start of the year. The KSCA has installed a subsurface aeration system that draws out water even as it begins to rain, and a sand-base outfield. It is aimed at starting play within minutes after rain ceases.

According to the weather forecast, thundershowers are predicted for Wednesday evening.
“If continues to rain we can’t do anything but whenever it stops, rest assured within 15 minutes we can start the match,” said KSCA acting president Sanjay Desai.
