New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against two railway officials for allegedly supplying sub-standard packaged drinking waters to passengers instead of the mandatory ‘Rail Neer’ brand.
The agency booked wo former Chief Commercial Managers (Catering) with the Northern Railway and seven Delhi-based private firms. “We have seized Rs. 20 crore in cash during the searches conducted on the premises of the accused persons at 13 places,” said a CBI official.
The accused railway officials have been identified as M.S. Chalia and Sandeep Silas. The private firms named in the FIR are R.K. Associates, Satyam Caterers, Ambuj Hotel and Real Estate, P.K. Associates, Sunsine, Brandavan Food Product and Food World.
“Instead of the mandatory ‘Rail Neer’ brand, they were supplying cheap packaged water in trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi,” the official said.
