New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two railway officers Sandeep Silas and MS Chalia, two former Chief Commercial Managers (Catering) with the Northern Railway who were suspended over graft charges.
CBI hasd earlier registered a case against the officials for allegedly supplying sub-standard packaged drinking waters to passengers instead of the mandatory ‘Rail Neer’ brand.
The agency had carried out raids at the accused’s residence and seven Delhi-based private firms. “We have seized Rs. 20 crore in cash during the searches conducted on the premises of the accused persons at 13 places,” said a CBI official.
Besides the duo the private firms named in the FIR were R.K. Associates, Satyam Caterers, Ambuj Hotel and Real Estate, P.K. Associates, Sunsine, Brandavan Food Product and Food World.
“Instead of the mandatory ‘Rail Neer’ brand, they were supplying cheap packaged water in trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi,” the official said.
