Rahul takes on Modi, vows to fight for ‘Kisan rights’

New Delhi: After nearly two months of absence, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday addressed a rally along with mother Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the land acquisition bill and against the policies of the Narendra Modi led NDA government. Speaking at the rally he described the polices of the Narendra Modi Government as ‘anti farmer.”

Rahul_manmohanHe said, “Farmers think that the government has forgotten them. They are scared. They think that the government only works for the rich. We help the farmers whenever we get a chance to do so. We have always worked for the poor and the weak.”

Taking on the foreign tours undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Insulting the nation abroad doesn’t suit the dignity of the position of a Prime Minister. He doesn’t even know the real strength of the nation.”

He also alleged that Narendra Modi has own the elections by taking money from the industrialists and will now be grabbing the land of the farmers and give it to them.

Speaking at the rally Congress president Sonia Gandhi said, “The unseasonal rains has destroyed the lives of the farmers and the Modi government has done nothing. We have come together to tell the Modi Government that Congress won’t let the farmers be ignored.”

The return of Rahul Gandhi to the political scenario after nearly 56 days has sent mixed reactions across the political lines. While one section of Congress was elated with his return, some sections were gloomy. Now it is a matter of question and time as to how much Rahul is able to pull out his party after the poll debacle in the Lok Sabha last year or will congress turn around and regain its lost ground under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
