Srinagar: On Wednesday Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited areas hit by Pak firing in Balakote. He had lengthy discussion with the civilians and the victims who were affected in the cross border shelling. Congress VP said, ‘People here want bunkers, insurance for themselves and their animals’. On August 15, Pakistani rangers fired mortar bombs at several Indian posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control killing three civilians.

BJP earlier slammed Rahul’s J&K visit saying he was trying to ‘politicize’ the border issues. The Congress party had also attacked the Centre and the PDP-BJP coalition in the state for rise in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the border areas, saying the government has failed to control these incidents.
