Several Questions have been raised against IPL

Bengaluru: This obscene show of wealth came on a day when the Enforcement Directorate issued a Rs. 425 crore show-cause notice to BCCI and IPL over alleged forex violations in a 2009 media rights deal.
Thus, the IPL auction raises five questions which are given below.

1. Timing:

Was it really so essential and urgent to hold the IPL auction now – in the middle of the World Cup? Will it not be an unwelcome distraction for Team India when they read stories about players being bought and sold?

2. IPL spot fixing probe
Considering Supreme Court is still hearing the IPL spot fixing case and an expert panel will look into the finances and working of two franchises, doesn’t the auction pre-empt a favourable outcome? What happens if Rajasthan Royals is found playing foul of IPL rules or something more serious?

3. How can Vijay Mallya still be allowed to attend an auction?
The Rajya Sabha MP, who faces court cases for cheques bouncing to unpaid taxes going in crores, bid Rs 15 crore for Yuvraj Singh. A player whom his team released for Rs 14 crores couple of months back! The fact that banks are still struggling to recover the Rs 7000 crores lent to Kingfisher, it is shocking to see him bid all this money.

4. Yuvraj Singh for Rs 16 crore!!
Yuvraj Singh is a great player, but is he worth Rs 16 crore? Last season in 14 IPL games, Yuvi scored 376 runs and took 5 wickets. Subsequently he was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore who had bought him for Rs 14 crore. Add to that the fact that he isn’t considered good enough to play at the World Cup, and this entire deal looks even more farcical.

5. Preity Zinta
How does she manage to look so gorgeous year after year? Serious question.
