Quake of 6.9 magnitude strikes Japan


Tokyo: A strong earthquake of 6.9 magnitude, has struck nearly 480 kilometers below the surface of the ocean’s surface. Officials said that there was no danger of any tsunami in the area.

The U.S. Geological survey has put the magnitude at 6.3. The Japanese agency said that the quake was centered west of the Ogasawara island chain in the pacific ocean about 1000 kilometers south of Tokyo.

Some islands shook due to the earthquake but hardly anything were felt at Tokyo.
