New Delhi: An earthquake with magnitude 5.2 occurred near Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday. Tremors were also felt in Bihar’s Samasthipur.
It was the 429th aftershock of or above magnitude 4 since the devastating magnitude 7.6 earthquake.
Among the aftershocks of the April 25 quake, today’s moderate tremor was the greatest since the magnitude 5.5 tremor hit Dolakha on May 16, 2015.
It was the first aftershock above magnitude 5 since November 19 last year.
The quake was strong enough to force many locals who had already gone to bed to come out of their houses onto open grounds and roads, reported the Himalayan Times.
Social media users said they also felt the tremor in some western parts of Nepal including Pokhara and Bihar of India also.
