Barrackpore: The higher officials of the North 24 Parganas district administration have visited Barrackpore flyover before the upcoming festivity. After the inspection the officials confirmed that the flyover is out of danger now.
Recently, a rumor was spread regarding the Barrackpore flyover. The authorities visited the bridge for inspection based on the rumor. The Barrackpore municipality chairman Uttam Das filed a written application to the district administration. Responding to the application, the authorities of North 24 Parganas examined the present situation of the flyover.
The team who examined the flyover included Barrackpore sub-divisional officer Abul Kalam, Azad Islam, officer-in-charge of PWD Pinaki Bhattacharya, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate DC Traffic Avshesh Pathak, Barrackpore Municipality Chairman Uttam Das and other administrative officials.
After the observation of the flyover, the DC Traffic Avshesh Pathak said, “The PWD engineers have said that there is no big issue in the bridge. But we have requested the office to give a certain weight. So that they don’t allow heavy weight vehicles on the flyover.”
He further added that, “We have stopped heavy weight vehicles on the Dunlop flyover. If we get any specific instructions from the PWD department we will implement it in this bridge too.”
After visiting the flyover the assistant engineer of PWD Pinaki Bhattacharya said, “The flyover is in a good condition. The movement of vehicle on the bridge is also proper. I have spoken to the traffic officials, they also said if the movement of the vehicles could be controlled. I will discuss this with the high officials of the departmental.It will be best to bring some guide lines regarding this issue.”
