Kathmandu: CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal registered his nomination for the prime ministerial election on Tuesday.
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba proposed Dahal as the PM candidate and CPN Maoist Centre leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara seconded him.
However, the CPN-UML has decided not to field any candidate in the prime ministerial election. The Standing Committee meeting of the party held in Baluwatar this morning made the decision to that effect.
After the deadline to consensually choose new Prime Minister ended on Sunday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has asked the House to hold election to form majoritarian government.
Speaker Onsari Gharti on Monday had called a meeting of the Parliament for 11 am on Wednesday to elect the new Prime Minister. If elected then Pushpa Kaman Dahal would be the Prime Minister for the second time.
