Pulwama Terror Attack: Cricket Fraternity Condemns Blood Bath

New Delhi: The latest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir has left the nation devastated. For the first time in three years, a major militant attack shook the valley on Thursday when a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy was attacked in Pulwama district’s Awantipora town. At least 26 CRPF personnel lost their lives in the attack and 25 others were reportedly injured.

As per the latest reports, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, who rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF bus. The convoy had over 70 vehicles and more than 2,500 personnel. The attack is one of the biggest in three years. The Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group claimed responsibility for the terror attack.

The attack was condemned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who vowed that the ‘sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain,’ and that the entire nation stands in solidarity with the families of the martyrs. The cricket fraternity also condemned the attack with the likes of VVS Laxman, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Mohammed Kaif taking to Twitter, to send their condolences to the families of the martyrs.

“Sad and pained to hear about the dastardly attack on our brave CRPF men in #Pulwama in which many of our jawans have been martyred. I pray for a quick and speedy recovery of those injured in the attack,” Laxman wrote on Twitter.

As per reports, there were around 350 kg of explosives in suicide bomber’s car which rammed into the CRPF bus. The bus targetted was left in tatters while another vehicle was also damaged in the attack. The terror attack is the biggest since Uri Army camp strike in September 2016, following which surgical strikes were conducted by the Indian Army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
