Pugmarks Spark Scare Of Big Cat’s Presence Again In Lalgarh

Midnapore: Villagers suspected that a tiger could be raoming in and around after they spotted a bloody scratch marks on a cow’s body on Saturday in Jangalmahal’s Lalgarh area.

Locals immediately informed forest department to track the tiger as soon as possible. On January 30, some villagers saw pugmarks and alerted the local administration.

Wildlife experts examined the marks and the pictures were sent to Calcutta. Nearly a month later, on February 27, the marks were confirmed as those of a tiger.

The tiger that had strayed into the Lalgarh forest and been captured by hidden cameras on March 2 was killed by a hunting group with spears and arrows.
