Probodh Ponda becomes the new face of CPI

Kolkata: The party has long being reduced to the significance of a mere sign board. After a span of 15 years, a change has been brought in the post of the State Secretary of CPI. It was held by Manjukumar Majumder until he was replaced by another Leftist Probodh Ponda. According to sources, Probodh Ponda could take his charges right from Wednesday. Probodh Ponda is a former CPI MP and is presently in charge of the Midnapore district.

The Left supporters had pointed finger towards the leadership following a disastrous result in the recent elections. It is even learnt that, some of them raised questions against the leadership of the party. Succombing to pressure from various ends, Probodh Ponda’s name was announced at the Bhupesh Bhawan at Kolkata on Wednesday.
