Kolkata: Today is National Voters Day. President Ramnath Kovind will felicitate candidates at voters day ceremony at Jorabhar Auditorium in Delhi on Thursday. Bengal marked triumphs of victory in the celebration. Four District Magistrate(DM) and one Superintendent of Police (SP) from three states have been selected for the prestigious National Award in ‘General Category’.
Antara Acharya, District Magistrate (DM) of North 24 Pargana, will be felicitated with National Award on the achievement for a successful and effective Voters Campaign in Bengal.
According to Election Commission, National Award is holding three categories this year- ‘General Category’, ‘Special Category’, ‘State Award Category’. 20 people have been nominated on the ‘general category’. DM of North 24 Pargana and Birbhum have been nominated from West Bengal. Final selection has rejected P.Mohangandhi, DM of Birbhum from the list.
Three District Magistrates and nine personnel have been selected in ‘Special Category’. But West Bengal is not there in the list. Total seven states including Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Gujrat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa have secured the award. On Thursday every categories will be awarded from the same stage.
