Kolkata: The Bengal government is planning to host a civic reception to honour President Ram Narh Kovind while he will be in Kolkata in end November.
Nabanna Officials said that they were yet to get the confirmation of the President’s visit, so the date of the civic reception is ecpected to be finalized next week when the chief minister Mamata Banerjee will be back from UK.
The officials said that it’s a decorum for the state administration to host civic receptions when the President visits the state for the first time.
Earlier for Pranab Mukherjee, a civic reception was hosted at Netaji Indoor Stadium on September 12,2012. A gun salute to the new President is also on the cards.
The state has akerted senior cops so that security arrangements are made for the President’s visit. Former President Pranab Mukherjee and Dalai Lama will also be in the city next week and the administration is beefing up security in the state.
