Prasun urges court to reconsider his arrest warrant


Kolkata: Trinamool MP Prasun Banerjee has requested the court through his lawyer to reconsider its decision of issuing an arrested warrant against in over allegations that the former footballer and Howrah MP had slapped an on duty traffic constable on 14 January this year for stopping her car at Lake Town under Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.

A case under section 186 and 353 of the IPC has been filed against him both of which are unbailable. The case was filed by Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate over the allegations of the police constable.

The court had directed police to arrest him before 17 July following which his lawyer pleaded before court that the accused is a responsible citizen and a Member of Parliament. He won’t run away. He urged the court to reconsider its decision.
