Howrah: Howrah TMC candidate Prasun Banerjee was allegedly assaulted by the Central
Forces on Monday morning while the voting for the fifth phase is underway.
Banerjee’s personal assistant was injured in the incident too. Banerjee has filed a complaint at the police station against the Central Forces.
Banerjee went to Baltikuri constituency of Howrah to see the situation during voting. There, the central forces, without any intimidation, allegedly attacked him. At first a quarrel started and then he was beaten as per Prasun Banerjee.
Banerjee’s personal assistant Indranil Basu rushed to his (Banerjee) rescue but he was allegedly assaulted too. As a result, chaos erupted in the area. The TMC workers started protesting in front of the booth. Later on, Banerjee filed a complaint at the police station.
As per Banerjee’s accusations, the central forces stopped him when he tried to enter the booth. He even showed his identity documents but in vain. A brawl broke and the forces allegedly snatched and tore away his identity documents. He was injured in his hand in the incident.
