Pradesh Congress Calls For Meeting At Islampur Over Worker’s Death

Kolkata: The Pradesh Congress has called for a meeting at Islampur on Saturday over the attack on Congress workers at North Dinajpur’s Chopra.

The meeting will be attended by Pradesh Congress chief Somen Mitra, Pradip Bhattacharya, Abdul Mannan, Dipa Dasmunshi, Shankar Malakar. The meeting is scheduled at 1 in the afternoon. Somen Mitra has demanded for punishment of the culprits.

Clashes between TMC and Congress workers left one Congress worker Mohammad Samiruddin dead in North Dinajpur’s Chopra’s Lakkhipur area.

It has been alleged that some TMC workers injured Samiruddin using sharp weapons. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Soon after this incident, the Pradesh Congress is angry with the ruling party. Demanding the Governor’s intervention, they went to the Raj Bhawan on November 13.

On Sunday, the Governor might speak to the family of the deceased.
