Powerful explosion rocks Kabul

Kabul: A powerful explosion has rocked Kabul on Saturday raising yet another question on the security arrangements in Kabul. The diplomatic area of Kabul was attacked leaving twelve people dead and scores of civilians injured.

Three American contractors were among 12 people killed Saturday in a suicide car bomb attack. They were riding in a convoy of NATO armored vehicles traveling through a crowded neighborhood in Kabul when the bomb exploded. The American civilians worked for the international military force in Afghanistan since three year.
“Twelve dead bodies and 66 wounded people were taken to several Kabul hospitals,” health official Kabir Amiry said. “Some were in a bad condition.”

As per initial reports, officials said that a suicide bomber targeted a foreigner’s convoy near Shinozada hospital in the Macrorayan neighbourhood the sounds of which echoed throughout the city. Although no group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attacks, Taliban involvement is being suspected behind the incident.
