Poll violence rocks Katwa again

Katwa: After the EC ordered re-polling across 36 booths in the state amidst allegations of massive rigging and a spat of political violence rocked Saturday’s municipal polls, situation turned tensed in Katwa again.

As per the reports, a brawl broke out between TMC leader Kanchan Mukherjee and police personnel at ward nu-6 in Katwa on Monday. Mukherjee got furious after police following the directive prevented him from entering the booth.

The EC had earlier ordered that only candidates will be allowed entry into the booths and that too not more than four at a time. On the other hand TMC accused this to be a conspiracy to deliver political mileage to Congress candidate of the area.

Earlier on saturday a TMC worker was killed at Katwa during a violent clash.
