Kolkata: Hitting hard at the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool government in West Bengal, opposition leader Abdul Mannan on Friday said that poll victory is not an indicator of honesty and there are ample examples of corrupt regimes sweeping power.
“The election results cannot be deemed as a victory for the honest and people with strong character. There are several examples thieves, murderess sweeping polls.” said Mannan.
The Congress leader’s comment followed the speech of West Bengal Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, in which the Governor praised the state government of achievements and said that people rejected the politics of vendetta.
The Governor’s praise of the state government drew severe criticism from the opposition in Bengal who accused him of not mentioning the law and order problem and the rampant political violence in the state.
