Kolkata: With just 24 hours left for the KMC polls to kick off, the Central forces have finally arrived at the city. According to close sources, the personnel are scheduled to take a route-march in the sensitive and over-sensitive booths of the municipalities. On Saturday, i.e., April 18, 144 wards will exercise their democracy and choose their councilors for the next tenure of five years.
Since the past few days, the oppositions have raised their voice against the ongoing violence and the passive role played by the police in curbing out disturbances in the political hotspots of the city. They had even expressed their concern regarding the holding of free and fair polls on this weekend. Some of the delegations of the opposition parties had even made their way to the State Election Commission office to inform about this problem at the time of polls. They had even asked the authorities to go for the Central Forces instead of banking on the police.
Keeping in mind the situation, the Election Commission has decided to go for the forces. 3 companies of Central forces have arrived to ensure free and fair poll on Saturday.
