Political Giants To Attend Mamata’s Oath-Taking Ceremony

Kolkata: Political heavyweights will be attending the oath-taking ceremony of Mamata Banerjee on May 27 as reported on Friday.

After an overwhelming victory, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee declared on Thursday that the oath-taking ceremony would take place on May 27 at the Red road. Several political giants are scheduled to attend the ceremony. According to sources, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Venkaiya Naidu, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal will be present when Mamata Banerjee takes her oath as the CM of West Bengal.

Also, invitations would be sent out to personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Miodi.

Mamata, conveyened a meeting with all 211 victorious candidates at the party’s Kalighat office on Friday morning. During the meet, she was nominated as the head of TMC’s Legislative council and chief ministerial candidate. Mamata Banerjee then went to the Raj Bhawan to meet Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi to bid for forming government.

It has been decided that the newly-elected MLAs will take their oaths on May 28 and May 30. Their first session at the Legislative Assembly will be on May 31. The oaths would be taken on the presence of speaker Biman Banerjee. The TMC party has sought for the Governor’s permission to make veteran MLA Jotu Lahiri as the protem speaker who would make the MLA’s take their oaths.

On Thursday, TMC had a landslide victory by securing an overwhelming majority with 211 out of 294 seats for the Assembly elections. It crushed the left government’s results as they managed to secure only 32 seats. The Congress got 44 seats. Thus, the CPM-Congress alliance failed miserably in Bengal with their pathetic results. BJP seems to have not made a good impression of theirs in the voters’ minds yet as they managed just 3 seats from Bengal.
