Police stops Congress rally approaching Lalbazar


Kolkata: TMC stopped a rally of Congress candidates and workers from approaching Kolkata Police headquarters at LalBazar. The congress had organised a rally protesting against post poll violence by the ruling party. The rally started from Subodh Mullick square in Kolkata.

There was a scuffle between the Congress supporters and the Police. Police stopped the rally at Phears lane. The congress was scheduled to submit a deputation at Lalbazar. Following the scuffle the congress supporters started protesting on the road.

On the other hand, a thirteen member delegation of the congress went to LalBazar and submitted a deputation to Joint Commissioner (headquarters). They demanded the police to look into the incidents of pre and post poll violence in the city. Congress workers gave an ultimatum of 15 days to police to look into the matter. If no action is taken, the congress has threatened to gherao Lalbazar.
