Srinagar: A Police officer is among two cops injured in a militant attack at Bijbehara in Anantnag district of South Kashmir today. The attack comes a day after police announced reward for the informants of seven wanted militants of Hizbul Mujahideen belonging to Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Irshad Ahmad Rather, was heading a police component during Milad procession at Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Annatnag district when militants opened fire at him. Rather and a police constable were critically injured in the attack and they were referred to Srinagar’s Badami Bagh Cantonment Hospital for treatment.
The area has been cordoned off by police, CRPF and army.
