Lucknow: Every day on an average more than 400 people die in road accidents in India.
All these deaths don’t become news, but if there is a cow connection, any death hits headlines.
In an unusual yet tragic incident, a woman lost her life in an accident as the driver of the vehicle tried to save a cow. This happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur today.
Blame it on cow vigilantism or a sudden rush of blood that led the driver to save the cow as he spotted one wandering on the Balrampur road, in Harriya township.
In the utter panic, the driver turned the police jeep with all his might. He succeeded in saving the cow but hit four people including the elderly woman.
Among the injured are three people including the woman’s grandchildren.
The deceased has been identified as Usha Devi, 60. Three injured in the incident were taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the police jeep was arrested and a case of culpable homicide has been registered against him.
