Kolhapur: A team of the crime branch had raided a farmhouse near Panhala fort and arrested nine persons, including the property owner, for allegedly running a sex racket on the premises. The police rescued four girls during the raid at the farmhouse in Ingole village. Police said they had been receiving complaints about alleged illegal activities at the farmhouse. On Saturday, they received a specific tip-off about a party organized at the farmhouse and alleged sex racket. Acting upon the tip-off, a 15-member police team reached the village to check on the information. They parked the police vehicles at a distance and walked half a kilometre to the farmhouse.
Inspector D N Mohite, who is in-charge of the local crime branch, said, "When we knocked on the door, someone opened the door and we immediately gained entry. All were busy dancing to the tunes of music system. We arrested eight persons, including a woman who had brought the girls to the farmhouse."
Police also seized valuables worth Rs 16.26 lakh, including the cash, Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), music system, mobile handsets and three SUVs. A case under various sections of PITA has been registered with the Panhala police station. The arrested were presented before the local court in Panhala on Sunday and remanded in police custody till August 14.
